2. Background and definitions
2.1 Investment projects
Figures reported in this publication are related to foreign direct investment (FDI) projects.
FDI is a cross-border investment made by a non-UK resident entity where the direct investor acquires at least 10% of the voting power or ownership. More detailed definitions are available in the technical annex.
2.2 Jobs
Job figures are estimates made at the start of each investment project. New jobs capture total jobs likely to be created within 3 years from the start of the project.
2.3 DBT support
DBT-supported projects in this publication have received support from DBT and/or one of it’s regional and local partners. See the technical annex for further information.
2.4 Estimated economic impact
Estimated economic impact is the gross value added (GVA) to be generated over 3 years. See the technical annex for further detail.
2.5 Timing
Data are based on projects landing between 5 July 2024 and 31 March 2025.
