Northern Ireland Greenhouse Gas Projections based on 2021 GHG Inventory

The Northern Ireland Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Projections report is updated annually and provides estimates of future GHG emissions in Northern Ireland. The Northern Ireland Greenhouse Gas projection tool considers the time series of Greenhouse Gas emissions from the latest available Greenhouse Gas Inventory, and projects emissions onward.

Statistics release cancelled

The Northern Ireland greenhouse gas (GHG) projections were originally due to be published in March 2024 but have been paused. With the introduction of the NI Climate Change Act, an assessment is underway of projections from the draft climate action plan (CAP) quantification paper and if CAP work should supersede the GHG projections annual publication. Further details on the future of this publication will be highlighted to users in due course when an assessment of the CAP work is fully completed.
