Induction

Start your UKHSA journey on the right foot with our dedicated onboarding programme. Benefit from comprehensive support and a detailed induction to ensure a smooth transition into your role and team, setting you up for success from day one.

Performance development

We recommend regular one-to-ones with your line manager as these can help you to improve your skills, capabilities and performance. They also help track your progress towards your objectives, which are set in a more in-depth quarterly review discussion.

Developing managers and leaders

We provide wide-ranging tools, guides, courses, and support systems for our managers and leaders. Whatever your experience and skill level, we’re here to help you develop crucial management techniques and skills.

Coaching and mentoring scheme

Our coaching and mentoring scheme can match you with a colleague that can provide personalised support to enhance your skills, knowledge, and performance.

Talent management and accelerated development schemes

Our talent programmes offer inclusive opportunities for career advancement and personal growth:

  • our Future Leaders and Senior Leaders schemes are open to high-potential civil servants looking to take their careers to the next stage

  • we have initiatives in place to support civil servants on accelerated development schemes such as META (Minority Ethnic Talent Association) for those who identify as coming from an ethnic minority background and DELTA (Disability Empowers Leadership Talent) for those with a disability or long-term health condition

  • our Accelerate scheme is open to civil servants who are from ethnic minority backgrounds and those with disabilities — this is a positive action scheme to build and grow diverse leadership across the organisation

Apprenticeship schemes

Our priority apprenticeship scheme is open to all UKHSA-employed staff members at every grade and provides valuable, recognised qualifications in a range of different subjects. This can aid your career and help fill gaps in your skills.

Civil Service Learning

All our people have access to the Civil Service Learning website which offers learning in a range of formats to support and equip you to deliver excellent public services.
