The UK Innovation and Science Seed Fund (UKI2S) Space Portfolio, is a publicly funded, privately managed venture capital fund. Managed by Future Planet Capital (FPC) and backed by the UK Space Agency, UKI2S invests public R&D funding as equity capital to support early-stage space businesses.  

The fund invests in early-stage opportunities across all relevant space sector domains, including:  

  • Application-enabling spacecraft technologies and manufacturing  

  • In-orbit spacecraft services and sustainability businesses  

  • Downstream satellite services and applications  

UKI2S aims to bridge the critical “valley of death” in early-stage financing, providing pre-seed and seed capital to help UK space startups grow and compete globally.

1. Recent Investments  

1.1 Spaceflux 

Spaceflux is a UK-based company revolutionising space traffic management. Using a proprietary global telescope network and AI-powered platform, Spaceflux tracks space objects across all orbits to improve orbital safety and resilience.  

The company recently secured £5.4 million in funding, with support from UKI2S helping to unlock further private investment.

1.2 Messium 

Messium is an innovative UK agri-tech start-up using satellite imaging and AI to transform farm management, helping farmers monitor crop growth, soil health, unlocking yield potential and improving food security. Messium raised £3.3m to scale its platform, with UKI2S investment playing a key role in catalysing this round.
