Item 1: Welcome and Introductions

  • The Chairman welcomed the Steering Board and introductions were made.

Item 2: Minutes and Actions from Previous Meeting

  • The minutes from the March 2023 meeting were confirmed as accurate
  • Actions were agreed to return

Item 3: Updates

CBI Participation on the Steering Board

  • The Chairman of the Board updated the Steering Board on the Government’s pause on engagement with the Confederation of British Industries (CBI), meaning the CBI were not invited to participate in the UK NCP board meeting. Further updates would be provided in due course.

OGD board representatives

  • The Chairman of the Board updated the Steering Board on the progress of appointing new other Government department representatives to the Steering Board to provide a balance of external versus internal opinion, as per the Steering Board Terms of Reference.

Steering Board alternate appointments

  • The Chairman of the Board updated the Steering Board on the progress of appointing both business and civil society alternates.

Item 4: UK NCP Case Update

  • The UK NCP updated the Board on its current caseload, noting a high volume.

Item 5: OECD engagement

1. Update: Conclusion of the Revision of the OECD Guidelines

  • The UK NCP updated the Steering Board on the conclusion of the revision of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct.
  • The UK NCP updated the Steering Board on the recent OECD Ministerial Council meeting chaired by the UK.
  • The UK NCP presented an overview of the new version of the OECD Guidelines, including changes from previous version.

2. Update: OECD Working Party on Responsible Business Conduct Meeting and OECD NCP Network Meeting (19-21 June)

  • The UK NCP gave an update on its engagement at the OECD.
  • The UK NCP attended the WPRBC and the NCP network meeting in June.
  • The Working Party’s focus is now on implementation and promotion of the new version of the OECD Guidelines.

3. Update: Stakeholder Engagement/Promotion of the new OECD Guidelines

  • The UK NCP explored areas of promotion and stakeholder engagement with the Steering Board.
