Item 1: welcome and introductions

The Chairman welcomed the Steering Board.

Item 2: minutes and actions from previous meeting

  • The minutes from the July 2023 meeting were confirmed as accurate.
  • The NCP Secretariat gave an update on the status of actions arising from the previous Steering Board meeting.
  • The Steering Board were satisfied these had been noted and acted upon by the UK NCP.

Item 3: updates

OGD Board representatives

  • The Chairman of the Board updated the Steering Board on the progress of appointing new other Government department representatives to the Steering Board to provide a balance of external versus internal opinion, as per the Steering Board Terms of Reference

External Steering Board representative

  • The Chairman of the Board updated the Steering Board on the Government’s pause on engagement with the Confederation of British Industries (CBI), meaning the business representative (CBI) was not invited to participate in the UK NCP board meeting. Further updates would be provided in due course.

Item 4: UK NCP Case Update

Current case overview

The UK NCP updated the Board on its current caseload, noting a high volume.

The UK NCP updated the Board on current trends seen across NCPs worldwide.

Letter regarding delayed cases

The UK NCP updated the Board on the use of a letter of delay, due to high case load, sent to parties of complaints

Item 5: OECD engagement

1. Update: Stakeholder Engagement/Promotion of the new OECD Guidelines

  • The UK NCP updated on a meeting with an NGO in relation to the OECD Guidelines.
  • The UK NCP updated the Board on their plans for the upcoming OECD Working Party on Responsible Business Conduct in November.
  • The UK NCP updated the Board on promotion and stakeholder engagement done since the last Board meeting.
