1. Introductory remarks and adoption of the agenda

The UK co-chair opened the second UK-Moldova Dialogue in Trade Configuration, welcoming the Moldova delegation and underlining the importance of the trade relationship within the broader UK-Moldova partnership, highlighting the value of holding the dialogue in person.

The Moldova co-chair emphasised the strategic importance of trade with the UK.

Both parties agreed and adopted the agenda.

2. UK-Moldova bilateral trade

A policy expert outlined recent bilateral trade developments, noting continued stability and growth, including increases following recent trade liberalisation measures.

The Moldova co-chair highlighted growth in exports to the UK, increased diversification, and the importance of textiles, agri‑food products, wine and electrical goods.

Both parties recognised differences in trade data methodologies and agreed to continue technical exchanges, including the sharing of updated data.

3. Sub-committees

Both parties reviewed cooperation under the agreement and agreed on proportionate engagement across sub-committees, including streamlined engagement on Trade and Sustainable Development, regular exchanges on Geographical Indications, and the scheduling of Sanitary and Phytosanitary and customs discussions later in 2026.

4. Trade dispute settlement

The UK co-chair, supported by a policy expert, outlined steps to progress trade dispute settlement arrangements.

The Moldova co-chair set out relevant domestic procedures. Both parties agreed to continue close engagement through written exchanges and technical discussions during 2026.

5. Rules of Origin

The Moldova co-chair raised concerns regarding the practical application of rules of origin.

The UK co-chair reaffirmed the importance of identifying a mutually workable solution.

Both parties agreed to hold further technical discussions and that Moldova would share additional information and proposals.

6. Operational conclusions and closing

Draft operational conclusions were reviewed and agreed to form part of the joint record.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing cooperation and constructive engagement on trade.
