Details

This chapter sets out processes for the entry into force, amendment, and, if appropriate, termination of the agreement. It also provides a mechanism for the agreement to be extended to the Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories.

These provisions facilitate smooth implementation, reduce uncertainty, and help sustain trade liberalisation over the lifetime of the agreement.

The agreement is not yet in force. Both the UK and India are required to complete their respective domestic procedures for the agreement to come into effect. Once ratified by both countries, businesses will be able to trade under its terms.
