Details

This chapter creates a Joint Committee that is responsible for overseeing the agreement. The chapter will set out the powers and functions of the Joint Committee, as well as the decision-making and administrative processes for the Joint Committee and other bodies established under the agreement.

As this Joint Committee will oversee the agreement, it has an important role to play in ensuring the agreement can continue to drive economic growth in the UK and India in future years. The chapter also establishes a subcommittee on sustainability.

The agreement is not yet in force. Both the UK and India are required to complete their respective domestic procedures for the agreement to come into effect. Once ratified by both countries, businesses will be able to trade under its terms.
