This chapter will promote a transparent regulatory environment, bilateral regulatory co-operation, and the exchange of information. It encourages good governance and accountability within regulatory processes, which will provide a stable and predictable regulatory regime for UK businesses.

The UK and India will ensure that their regulations are made accessible. Both countries will also make commitments to provide a reasonable opportunity for interested persons to comment on proposed major regulatory measures, and to encourage regulatory authorities to co-operate on current and future regulation. This co-operation could identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary trade barriers, supporting innovation and economic growth.

The agreement is not yet in force. Both the UK and India are required to complete their respective domestic procedures for the agreement to come into effect. Once ratified by both countries, businesses will be able to trade under its terms.
