This chapter establishes a free trade area between the UK and India and provides for an appropriate set of legal relationships between the agreement and other international agreements. It sets out a series of definitions that will be used across the agreement and also includes a provision that sets out the interaction between this agreement and the Windsor Framework.

The agreement is not yet in force. Both the UK and India are required to complete their respective domestic procedures for the agreement to come into effect. Once ratified by both countries, businesses will be able to trade under its terms.
