Purpose and scope
The purpose of this policy is to affirm that all workers have the right to work in an environment where they are treated with dignity, respect and fairness. Any form of harassment, sexual harassment, bullying, discrimination or victimisation are unacceptable forms of behaviour at UKAEA and will not be permitted, condoned, or tolerated under any circumstances.
If any individual is found to have committed, authorised, or condoned an act of bullying, harassment or discrimination, UKAEA will take appropriate and proportionate action in accordance with our Disciplinary Procedure. This may include, where applicable, disciplinary measures up to and including summary dismissal. In the case of contractors or third parties, such behaviour may result in termination of engagement or other appropriate contractual remedies.
This policy applies to all individuals working for or engaged by UKAEA, including employees, contractors, agency workers, consultants, and apprentices. It also applies to job applicants and is relevant at every stage of the employment lifecycle.
The policy extends to all workplace interactions and environments, whether taking place on UKAEA premises, at off-site locations, or in virtual or hybrid working settings. It also applies to work-related social activities, training events, conferences, and business travel.
This policy extends to the use of social media and other online platforms where individuals are identifiable as being associated with UKAEA, or where the content visible has a clear connection to their role or activities within the organisation.
In addition, the policy covers instances of harassment, sexual harassment, bullying, discrimination, victimisation or other forms of inappropriate behaviour carried out by third parties, such as customers, suppliers, visitors, or other stakeholders with whom UKAEA workers may come into contact in the course of their work.
