This notice is made under regulation 94D(2) of The Trade Remedies (Dumping and Subsidisation) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019.
This notice suspends the application of a trade remedies measure in the event the goods covered by the measure are also subject to a safeguarding measure.
Trade remedies measure suspended
The trade remedies measure applied by Taxation Notice 2020/16: Countervailing duty on certain stainless steel bars and rods originating in India is suspended and not to be charged if the goods to which the measure applies, on importation into the United Kingdom, are also subject to the charge of a safeguarding measure applied by Taxation Notice 2020/06: Safeguard measures on certain steel products – application of tariff rate quotas.
The effect of this suspension is that countervailing duty is charged on imports of stainless steel bars and rods originating in India until such time as the relevant import quota is exceeded; after such time only the safeguard duty is charged. Further details are set out in Annex 1.
Trade remedies measure application period unaffected
This notice does not suspend the period, to which the countervailing duty applies, that is specified in Taxation Notice 2020/16: Countervailing duty on certain stainless steel bars and rods originating in India.
