Details

The countervailing duty on glass fibre products from Egypt was imposed by the EU on behalf of the UK and the other member states. At the time, the Secretary of State for International Trade transitioned the countervailing duty to continue applying in the UK after the transition period.

A transition review of the countervailing duty was initiated on 18 March 2025. On 24 February 2026, the Secretary of State for Business and Trade accepted the Trade Remedies Authority (TRA)’s recommendation to revoke the countervailing measure on continuous filament glass fibre products originating from Egypt.

This notice supersedes ‘Taxation notice 2020/37: countervailing duty on continuous filament glass fibre products originating in Egypt’ and revokes the countervailing measure.

  2. On 12 March 2024 ‘Trade remedies notice 2024/02: scope review of countervailing duty on certain continuous filament glass fibre products originating from Egypt’ was added.
