Details

This report sets out recommendations for how DIT can improve the tools and approaches it uses to quantitatively assess the impact of new free trade agreements (FTAs).

The report is the culmination of the review of DIT’s economic modelling launched in summer 2020.

The panel of academics led by Professor Tony Venables considered:

  • the different ways by which the impacts of trade agreements can be modelled and the relative benefits of the different approaches
  • how best to analyse the sub-national impacts of trade deals
  • how to model the environmental impacts of trade deals alongside the economic impacts
  • the ways by which DIT can develop tools to assess the dynamic impacts of trade agreements
