We were asked for a list of the paper and electronic documents held by the Wales Office (including memos, minutes, e-mails, records of meetings, letters, briefing papers, submissions etc) since 1 March 2011 which refer to:
- S4C and/or the BBC in relation to the European Charter for regional and minority languages; and/or
- the European Charter for regional and minority languages in relation to S4C and/or the BBC.
“Please give the authors of the documents and recipients, and the dates and titles of the documents. If there are no titles, please provide a brief description of the purpose of the documents. I am interested in documents which are in the English language and the Welsh language.”

All of these documents related to a news report that suggested Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg were considering a legal challenge to the government’s proposals for the future funding of S4C.
