Quarterly qualifying defence contract statistics: Q3 2016/17

The Single Source Regulations Office has published the first of its quarterly publications on key statistics relating to qualifying defence contracts (QDCs) and qualifying sub-contracts (QSCs).

This report contains analysis of the duration and estimated price, costs and profit of contracts that became a QDC/QSC between 1 April 2015 and 31 December 2016.

As of 1 February 2017, data had been reported to the SSRO on 72 of the 74 contracts that became QDCs/QSCs by 31 December 2016. This comprised 63 QDCs and nine QSCs.

The estimated total contract price of these contracts is £16.4 billion and their average reported contract profit rate is 11.17 per cent.

On average, the time between the contract becoming a QDC/QSC and the planned date of completion is 4.3 years.

The values reported are those agreed at contract signing, and may not reflect those at contract completion. This is the first in a series of quarterly statistical bulletins that will be published by the SSRO. The publication schedule for the next four quarterly bulletins is as follows:
