Official Solicitor response to consultation on legal aid reform

The Official Solicitor responds to a Ministry of Justice 2010 consultation on the proposed reforms to legal aid in England and Wales.

In this response, the Official Solicitor expresses concern about whether the reforms will achieve their aim of targeting legal aid to those who need it most.

The Official Solicitor goes on to describe why they believe the proposals will limit access to justice for society’s most vulnerable, especially those who are mentally incapacitated.

The document is a response to the consultation issued in 2010: Proposals for the reform of legal aid in England and Wales (CP12/10).
