Details
These papers were prepared by SPI-B and the Environmental Working Group to understand emerging evidence relating to a variety of occupations and situations which pose an elevated risk of infection due to high levels of social connectivity.
They should be viewed in context: these papers built upon the original SPI-B paper on Communicating behaviours to reduce transmissions between social networks (SAGE 39) to understand which specific situations pose a higher risk of infection and ways to reduce the risks in these situations.
The paper titled ‘Reducing transmission in highly-connected occupations’ was available for participants to read at SAGE 41 on 11 June 2020, but not considered or discussed in the meeting.
The paper titled ‘High connectivity situations outside the occupational or workplace context’ was included as an annex when this paper was recirculated for SAGE 45 on 2 July 2020.
The picture is developing rapidly and, as new evidence or data emerges, SAGE updates its advice accordingly. Therefore, this paper was subsequently superseded by Managing infection risk in high contact occupations.
