Details

This briefing paper provides an overview on LMI for All, an online data portal which brings together existing labour market information. The ‘LMI for All: final report’ provides an overview of the LMI for All project.

LMI for All ended its pilot stage in March 2015, and has now become a mainstream service of the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES).

LMI for All is an open data project, which supports the wider government agenda to encourage use and re-use of government datasets.

The data portal makes it easier for developers to create apps and websites which will help individuals and businesses make informed decisions about careers and learning options.

Examples of how LMI for All data is being used include:

  • a dashboard, developed by RCU to help inform curriculum strategy
  • the iCould careers site, which features videos and articles of people relating stories of their career journeys
  • Plotr, which uses an interactive game to match the user to their ideal careers
  • the Careerhack challenge to encourage use of the data

LMI for All data has achieved Pilot level certification from the Open Data Institute.
