The Investing in Women Code (IWC) was founded in 2019 with 12 founding signatories. It now has over 300, including most major UK retail banks. It was established as a recommendation of the Rose Review which found that access to funding was one of the biggest challenges for women-led businesses in the UK.
Over 6 years of reporting, the Investing in Women Code has built one of the most comprehensive evidence bases on gender and access to finance in the UK.
The initiative is led by the Department for Business and Trade with its code partners:
- British Business Bank
- Innovate UK
- UK Business Angels Association (UKBAA)
- UK Finance
- UK Private Capital
- Responsible Finance
Code partners are responsible for managing data collection and reporting, on behalf of government.
