The Incentivising Employees to Engage in Knowledge Asset Management guide supports Public Sector Bodies (PSBs) in developing and updating their Incentives Policy as part of their Knowledge Asset Management Strategy (KAMS).

This guidance provides a practical framework for creating an Incentives Policy that encourages employees to engage effectively with Knowledge Asset management.

Financial and non-financial rewards act as positive reinforcement. By embedding these within an Incentives Policy alongside existing HR policies, Public Sector Bodies can motivate public servants to participate in:

  • research
  • intellectual property protection
  • patent development.

This guide covers:

  • the different types of rewards and recognition
  • a practical structure for an Incentives Policy
