This report outlines the challenges and opportunities for UK manufacturing in a future world that is projected to have limited resources and be ‘carbon constrained’. It focuses on a number of environmental ‘megaforces’ which will be the main factors in business change to 2035 and beyond. These are:
- population growth and urbanisation
- climate change
- material availability
- water supply
- supply chain vulnerability
This review was commissioned as part of the Foresight project on the future of manufacturing in the UK.
