This framework document has been agreed between the Science and Technology Ethics Advisory Committee (STEAC) and the Home Office (the sponsor department).

The framework document outlines:

  • the STEAC and its members’ core responsibilities
  • the governance and accountability framework
  • the working protocol between the STEAC and the Home Office

The framework document is subject to periodic review.

This framework was agreed when STEAC was known as the Biometrics and Forensics Ethics Group and still applies.
