Details

Under the Law Commissions Act 1965 the Law Commission is required to submit regular Programmes of law reform to the Lord Chancellor detailing the next areas of law reform work they will be undertaking for government.

In September 2025 their 14th programme of law reform was published, detailing 10 areas set for reform. The projects in the 14th programme are:

  • Agricultural tenancies
  • Commercial leasehold
  • Consent in the criminal law
  • Deeds
  • The defence of insanity
  • Desecration of a corpse
  • Management of housing estates
  • Ownerless land
  • Product liability and emerging technologies
  • Public sector automated decision making
