Actions arising from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) 8 June 2026 Business Committee meeting. This meeting took place at 64 Victoria Street, London.

Action 2 - Performance Report Q4 2025–26 (Communications)	Communications team to develop improved performance metrics focussed on impact and outcomes.	2/9/2026	Claire Forbes – Propose to close: A new media monitoring company has been appointed in the last quarter and we are exploring the provision of improved metrics and data with them. Separately, we are continuing to enhance our evaluation of our proactive communications, such as our consumer campaigns and our incidents work, and key insights from this activity will be shared with Business Committee on an ongoing basis.
Action 3 - Performance Report Q4 2025–26 (Incidents)	Officials to provide enhanced trend analysis and baseline comparisons in future reporting.	2/9/2026	Junior Johnson – Ongoing: The performance management framework for Incidents and Resilience Unit has now been reviewed and updated for initial use in Q1. The full range of performance metrics has been updated with some still aspirational due to access to correct/appropriate data, this is being progressed across Q2 and 3 and in conjunction with the Incidents Operating Model project in FSA Ready. Our current reporting format to EMT and Business Committee is steered through central planning team which limits the opportunity to provide enhanced trend analysis. We will continue to develop products which will support trend analysis and consider baseline comparisons.

Action 2 - Performance Report Q3 2025–26 (FSA BC 26/03/04) - Operational Delivery	Operations and NFCU teams to develop and provide the Business Committee with a more systematic set of outcome-focused indicators for NFCU activity, including economic impact, key enforcement outcomes, and progress of cases affected by court delays.	8 June 2026	Junior Johnson – Ongoing: SERD and NFCU continue to explore a conceptual model that will better demonstrate the impact NFCU activity is having. Unfortunately, an API data flow issue arose which requires resolution by external software providers before this project can be further progressed. The Ops Director or their deputy at Business Committee can provide additional information regarding the current stage on all live tasked investigations and give additional context to the current KPI’s if required. The current performance templates used to brief Business Committee pose challenges to demonstrate the impact Business Committee are seeking but we continue to explore alternatives to achieve this.
Action 3 – Chief Executive’s Report to the Business Committee (FSA BC 25/06/03)	Darren Whitby to provide an update for the Board via a weekly circulation on progress of the UKHSA led working group on improving protocols for handling incidents in healthcare settings.	Autumn 2025	Darren Whitby – Propose to close: Since this action was raised, there has been significant improvement in cross-agency working, supported by recent incident response regarding NHS supply chains and strengthened relationships between partner organisations across all nations. Lessons identified through recent incidents, including the Listeria national response, recent Listeria in RTE Poultry and Neocate, have led to clearer processes, improved coordination and faster escalation of actions. While the original UKHSA-led working group has not progressed as initially envisaged, the intended outcome of improving protocols and resilience across organisations has been advanced through operational activity and is now being incorporated into guidance and established ways of working. Remaining areas for development will continue to be managed through existing governance, incident response structures and business-as-usual collaboration with partner agencies. On this basis, we propose that the action is closed, noting that any residual risks are appropriately managed through current arrangements and ongoing oversight.
Action 3 - Performance Report Q3 2025–26 (FSA BC 26/03/04) - Science and Evidence	Science Directorate to continue development of outcome-focused science metrics and reflect these more clearly in future updates and in the Annual Science Report.	8 June 2026	Julie Pierce – Closed: The Science Performance & Impact report is being drafted and will be presented to the Business Committee in September
Action 4 - 2026/27 Annual Plan and Budget (FSA BC 26/03/05)	Executive to adapt Business Committee reporting so that Members receive clearer visibility of delivery against major change programme milestones within the annual plan.	7 September 2026	Ian Gibson – Ongoing: This is in hand and we will see the first set of this sort of reporting from Q1 against the Plan for 26/27.  Targeting Business Committee in Sept.
