Details

From February 2027, new EU Battery Passport requirements will apply to all batteries, subject to certain exclusions, placed on the EU market. This will also apply to all batteries that have been subject to preparation for re-use, repurposing or remanufacturing.

The Battery Passport requirements will necessitate the collection, management, and reporting of information across the battery life cycle, including:

  • carbon footprint
  • materials
  • performance
  • supply chain due diligence

The information gathered through this survey will help further inform the government’s evidence base on how EU regulations are affecting UK businesses. This exercise is information‑gathering only and does not represent a consultation or a statement of future UK government policy.

This exercise will be of interest to organisations involved in, or supporting, the manufacturing of batteries and battery-containing products exported to the EU including:

  • small, medium and large battery businesses manufacturing products for export to the EU, and their respective supply chains, from raw materials and components through to cells, modules, packs, reuse, recycling, and lifecycle assessment

  • exporters of batteries or battery‑containing products to the EU across all end uses, including but not limited to automotive, energy storage, defence, and maritime

How to respond

You can respond to the survey online. Please respond by 10 July 2026.
