1. Information: new CEO appointed

The Department for Education (DfE) has announced that Eileen Milner has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and will take up the post in November this year.

Eileen will replace Peter Lauener, the current Chief Executive Officer of the ESFA, who has held the post since 1 April 2017 and in predecessor organisations since April 2010. He will step down at the end of November.

2. Information: individualised learner record (ILR) funding returns guide 2017 to 2018

We have published the individualised learner record (ILR) funding returns guidance and presentation slides to support this funding guidance for the 2017 to 2018 academic year. This guide provides information on how to return final ILR funding claims for 2017 to 2018 and the presentation slides highlight key areas of interest and can be useful when delivering presentations.

It is important for all institutions funded by ESFA to carry out data recording checks each year. After reviewing ILR R10 data returns we have highlighted some checks to consider for academic year 2016 to 2017 on GOV.UK.

3. Information: post-16 market entry

We have updated our post-16 market entry guide. The guide provides information about how to receive ESFA funding for post-16 education and training.
