Dear Lord Vallance,
Notification of publication of cross-government strategy on alternative methods
I am writing to you as the new Chair of the Animals in Science Committee (ASC) following the attendance of your officials at the ASC plenary meeting on 10 June 2025. The Committee was grateful to hear updates on how the cross-government strategy on alternative methods is progressing.
From recent conversations with ministers and officials, the ASC is expecting to have a key role in the implementation of the strategy, and very much looks forward to contributing to this.
As such, I am keen to organise an ASC meeting immediately following the publication of the strategy to review, discuss and agree our response as a Committee, which will be published on the ASC website. This will additionally enable us to effectively respond to any questions directed to the committee, the chair or individual Members.
I would be grateful for as much advance notice as you are able to provide on the publication date of the strategy.
Thank you again for your time and engagement with the ASC. I look forward to working with you on the acceleration of the development, validation and uptake of alternative methods.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Sally Robinson
Chair of the Animals in Science Committee
