CPTPP Article 25.3: covered regulatory measure definition for the UK

For the UK, for the purposes of the Regulatory Coherence chapter, a regulatory measure means a measure of general application related to any matter covered by this Agreement adopted by regulatory agencies with which compliance is mandatory.

For the UK, for the purposes of the Regulatory Coherence chapter, a regulatory agency means a ministerial department at the central level of government.  

For the UK, for the purposes of the Regulatory Coherence chapter, a covered regulatory measure means:

i. an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; or

ii. a statutory instrument made, by a Minister of the Crown, under an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

related to any matter covered by this agreement and in relation to a business activity, excluding:

a. measures imposing, abolishing or varying any tax, duty, levy or other charge (or measures in connection with such measures);

b. measures in connection with procurement;   

c. measures in connection with the giving of grants or other financial assistance by or on behalf of a public authority; or

d. commencement orders.
