Details

CoRWM’s main priority in 2013 to 2014 is to provide advice to DECC on their Managing Radioactive Waste Safely (MRWS) programme, and in particular the siting process for a Geological Disposal Facility (GDF)

CoRWM’s other priorities are to review:

  • the interim surface storage arrangements for Higher Activity Radioactive Waste
  • DECC and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority’s siting and stakeholder engagement
  • the fundamental elements of a safety case for a Geological Disposal Facility (GDF)
  • the inventory of waste and other nuclear materials

In addition CoRWM will provide advice to the Scottish Government on the implementation of their strategy for managing Higher Activity Radioactive Waste in Scotland

The work programme also idenitfies topics that CoRWM will address in 2014 to 2016
