On 7 January 2016 the IPO published the proposal for changes to the registered design fees.

The government response was published on 23 March 2016, the intention was to introduce the revised fees at the next suitable opportunity.

The Registered Design (Fees) Rules 2016 [SI No.2016/889] was laid before Parliament on 7 September 2016.

This document provides guidance for business on the new fee structure, including transitional arrangements. Subject to Parliamentary agreement, the new fees will come into force on 1 October 2016.
