Dear [redacted]
I write in response to an email received by our office on Wednesday 23rd April 2025 in which you asked:
“We are collecting data regarding the Expenditure for Biometrics and Surveillance Camera Commissioner.
Could you please provide us spend data/expenditure/supplier payments report, if possible, in xls/csv format?
Or, kindly confirm if Forestry Commission’s data is same with our search.”
Your request has been handled as a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
The Commissioner is independent of, but appointed by, government. As the Commissioner’s role is currently vacant, the Office of the Biometrics and Surveillance Camera Commissioner (OBSCC) has provided this response to your query in their absence. As an arm’s length body of the Home Office, expenditure responsibility is managed by the Home Office. The information you have requested is already publicly available and has been published by the Home Office, accessible through this link: Home Office spending - GOV.UK. Therefore, we are exempt from disclosing it again as it falls under FoI exemption 21: information accessible to the applicant by other means.
If you are dissatisfied with this response, you may request an independent internal review of our handling of your request by submitting a complaint within two months to the address below, quoting reference BSCC-FOI-0525-HD. If you ask for an internal review, it would be helpful if you could say why you are dissatisfied with the response.
