The Animal Welfare and Ethical Review Body (AWERB) Subgroup of the Animals in Science Committee (ASC) held its ninth workshop for AWERB Hubs on 20 April 2023.

The themes for discussion at the workshop were:

• culture of care
• NC3Rs self-assessment tool: the role of the AWERB
• retrospective assessment and retrospective review

This report sets out the key points and findings from the workshop.
