Una Bennett

Biography

Una Bennett was appointed Director of National Services at HMCTS in April 2021. In this role, she has overseen the opening of the final two Courts and Tribunal Service Centres (CTSCs) in Salford and Newport. Una has also led on the continued transition and embedding of services into CTSCs resulting from the Reform programme and stabilisation of service centre operations following the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Before joining HMCTS, she was Chief Executive of the Standards and Testing Agency, Department for Education (DfE) from September 2018. In this role she was responsible for the policy, design and operational delivery of primary school tests including a major project to change the supply chain. She also led on a number of covid-related activities for DfE during the pandemic.

Una had previously held Deputy Director roles in the Standards and Testing Agency and the Education and Skills Funding Agency and led on various projects and operations.

Una began her career in financial services joining the Civil Service in 2007.

National Services Director

The HMCTS National Services Director is responsible and accountable for:

  • customer service centres, CTSCs and National Business Centres (NBCs), for HMCTS ensuring these provide a good service and deliver Reform programme efficiencies. The service centres process ‘out of court’ activity for family, civil and tribunals cases as well as crime cases in the magistrates’ courts. They also handle calls, email and webchat from citizens and legal professionals and support the judiciary.
  • the CTSCs deal with reformed work while the NBCs process unreformed and legacy cases. The centres are being led on an end-to-end jurisdiction basis working with colleagues in courts and tribunals and across HMCTS.
