Una Bennett was appointed as Chief Executive of the Standards and Testing Agency in September 2018.
Her previous roles include:
- Deputy Director, Test Operations, Standards and Testing Agency
- Deputy Director, Funding Mechanism, Skills Funding Agency
Prior to joining the Civil Service, Una had worked in financial services.

The Chief Executive is responsible for overseeing the work of the agency and is accountable to the Secretary of State for Education.
The Chief Executive signs off the content of the national curriculum tests and the setting and maintenance of standards, acting independently of the Department for Education and ministers, to ensure confidence in the validity of test outcomes.
As accounting officer, the Chief Executive is also responsible for assuring how the agency uses its resources including its delegated budget.
