Tim became a diplomat after 8 years as an Army officer, where he served in places from the Balkans to the Falklands. He joined the Foreign Office the day before the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the US. Since then he has worked in Afghanistan and Pakistan on security issues, and in London on counter terrorism and the Middle East. After leaving the scenic and historic Prague Tim completed an intensive programme of Arabic language training with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in preparation for his posting to Kuwait.

Deputy Head of Mission to Kuwait

The Deputy Head of Mission is a senior diplomat and typically a key advisor to the Ambassador or High Commissioner. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas Embassy or High Commission. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the Ambassador as Chargé d’Affaires. A senior ranking Deputy may also take the title Minister. Smaller missions may not have a Deputy Head.
