Tim Jones

Biography

Tim Jones has been the Finance Director at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) since September 2020. From May to July 2023 he was the interim FCDO Director General, Finance and Corporate.

Tim previously worked at the Ministry of Justice where he led a commercial finance centre of excellence and worked across Government supporting the emerging best practice in financial monitoring of suppliers.

Prior to this, Tim worked alongside policy teams as a finance business partner in Department for Education (DfE) and Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), tackling complex funding issues around childcare and special needs, as well as in university tuition fees and business innovation. Tim also undertook an 18-month secondment as the Finance Director for the shared service provider to BEIS, playing a key role in stabilising the organisation and driving improved service outcomes and staff morale.

Tim began his career in the private sector at PwC, where he worked in a variety of audit and assurance roles over nearly 10 years before moving into the Civil Service.
