Dr Tim Gilson
Biography
Dr Tim Gilson was Chief Executive Officer of the Athelstan Trust and a secondary headteacher. Tim is a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching and of the Royal Geographical Society. He has been a School Improvement Advisor, Ofsted Inspector and coach and mentor for Headteachers, and was a teacher for 35 years. Tim is a Trustee of The Wiltshire Wildlife Trust. He also previously spent three years on the Independent Monitoring Board of HMP/YOI Ashfield.

The function of STRB is to consider matters referred to it by the Secretary of State for the Department for Education (DfE) in relation to the remuneration, professional duties or working time of school teachers in England. The Secretary of State can refer matters to STRB at any time. STRB reports to the Prime Minister and the Secretary of State for Education.
