Tim Cole

Biography

Tim Cole has been the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) Migration Envoy since October 2017. In this role he represents the British government internationally to achieve the government’s migration objectives. He works with government ministers, the UK’s National Security Adviser and senior officials in the Home Office and Department for International Development to bring FCO expertise to the development and delivery of migration policy. Mr Cole previously served as Head of the International Organisations Department, Commonwealth Envoy and, from 2012 to 2016, as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Cuba. He is an Africa specialist, having served as Deputy Head of Mission in Zimbabwe and Mozambique, Head of Pan-Africa Policy Unit and Adviser to the Prime Minister’s G8 Africa Personal Representative. Before joining the FCO he was Save the Children’s Programme Director for the Democratic Republic of Congo and ran Christian Aid’s programme in Central Africa.
