Tim Cole has been the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) Migration Envoy since October 2017.
Tim previously served as Head of the International Organisations Department, Commonwealth Envoy and, from 2012 to 2016, as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Cuba. He is an Africa specialist, having served as Deputy Head of Mission in Zimbabwe and Mozambique, Head of Pan-Africa Policy Unit and Adviser to the Prime Minister’s G8 Africa Personal Representative.
Before joining the FCO he was Save the Children’s Programme Director for the Democratic Republic of Congo and ran Christian Aid’s programme in Central Africa.
The Foreign & Commonwealth Migration Envoy represents the British government internationally to achieve the government’s migration objectives. The Envoy works with government ministers, the UK’s National Security Adviser and senior officials in the Home Office and Department for International Development to develop and deliver of migration policy.
