Terry Makewell

Biography

Terry Makewell is the Chief Technology Officer at the UK Hydrographic Office, having joined in April 2018. He is also a member of the British Council Digital Advisory Group.

Prior to joining the UKHO, Terry was Chief Digital Officer at the Office for National Statistics (ONS), where he had responsibility for delivering transformation programmes across data collection, processing and analysis.

Terry has also had experience within government as Head of Digital & Global Media at the Met Office.

In the private sector, Terry has held roles in the publishing, academic and cultural sectors, as well as having worked for Fujitsu. He is also a trustee of the South West Heritage Trust, which oversees the Museum of Somerset and the Glastonbury Rural Life Museum, as well as the country archives of Somerset and Devon.
