Tanya Robinson

Biography

Tanya Robinson joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, now Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office in 2000. She took up her role as Deputy Head of Mission to the British Embassy, San Salvador in October 2021.

Over the last 20 years, Tanya has served in various roles across the Diplomatic Service covering foreign policy to consular and development. Her previous role was in London where she was the Conflict Security & Stability Fund Programme Manager, providing strategic oversight and direction to ensure the fund delivered on Her Majesty’s Government objectives across three programmes in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Tanya has also previously worked in Beijing (China), Bogota (Colombia) and Chennai (India). She also served on a temporary duty appointment in Kingston (Jamaica) and deployed to support crises operations in Egypt and Portugal.

Deputy Head of Mission, British Embassy San Salvador

The Deputy Head of Mission is a senior diplomat and typically a key advisor to the Ambassador or High Commissioner. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas Embassy or High Commission. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the Ambassador as Chargé d’Affaires. A senior ranking Deputy may also take the title Minister. Smaller missions may not have a Deputy Head.
