Steve Unger
Biography
Until recently Steve was a Board member of Ofcom, the UK regulator responsible for digital communications. He set strategy for regulation in the UK, represented the UK internationally, was Ofcom’s Chief Technology Officer, and served as Acting Chief Executive. Before becoming a regulator he spent several years in the private sector, working for high-tech start-ups who were exploiting new wireless technologies.
He now has a portfolio of non-executive and advisory roles, including as a board member of Building Digital UK, and chair of Cambridge Wireless. A common theme across this portfolio is an interest in how markets exploit disruptive technologies, and how public policy can maximise the resulting benefits.
