Steve Riley

Biography

Steve Riley became the interim IT Director General for the Department for Work and Pensions on 11 July 2014.

Steve joined the former Department of Health and Social Security in 1974, straight from school, as a clerical officer. He spent the first 10 years working in Huyton local office.

He moved to the department’s IT team in 1984 and has headed a number of large IT projects. In 2012, he became responsible for the IT for all DWP welfare reform projects, including Universal Credit.
