Steve Gooding
Biography
Steve Gooding was Director General of Roads, Traffic and Local Group at the Department for Transport from January 2013 to April 2015.
Career
Steve joined the civil service in 1983 and in addition to working at the Department for Transport and its predecessors, has worked at the Government Office for London, the Cabinet Office, and as secretary to the Civil Service Management Board. Between 2001 – 2004 Steve was a Director at the Office of the Rail Regulator.
Steve is DfT’s Head of the Policy Profession, and chairs the Transport Sector Transparency Board. Steve is also DfT’s diversity champion for ethnicity and faith.
