Stephen Barter

Biography

Stephen Barter is Chairman of Wilton Capital Advisers, his own independent investment firm. Until recently, he was Chairman of KPMG’s Real Estate Advisory practice. He has over 40 years’ experience in real estate during which he has held a number of senior leadership roles as investor, developer, fund manager and consultant.

Prior to KPMG, he was UK Chief Executive Officer of Qatari Diar, Group Projects Director at Grosvenor, Head of European Real Estate for a leading international investment bank and an equity partner at Richard Ellis (now CBRE).

He has served on the UK Prime Minister’s Property Consultative Committee, was for 11 years a non-exec member of the UK Ministry of Defence Estates Committee and for 17 years a member of the Bank of England Property Forum. He is a former UK Chairman of the Urban Land Institute.
