Simon Everest

Biography

Simon was the interim Head of the Department for International Trade’s Defence and Security Organisation (DSO). During that time, he maintained his previous role as DSO’s Director Operations and Security.

Previous roles in DSO include:

  • head of security directorate
  • head of business strategy
  • regional deputy director

Simon’s career started in the Civil Service in the Ministry of Defence, which he joined in 1985 and undertook various secretariat, policy and consultancy postings before being promoted to Assistant Director in 2002. He then spent 2 years in the Defence Exports Services Organisation where he was responsible for supporting UK industry’s marketing of equipment to Western Europe. Until he left MOD in 2008, Simon was deputy director in the directorate of organisation and management development.
