Simon David Tonge

Biography

Simon David Tonge has been British High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea since 20 July 2014. Prior to this appointment he was British Ambassador to Ivory Coast. Simon Tonge joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in September 1996 and has previously served in Baku as Deputy Head of Mission from November 2008 to 2011 and as Head of the Governor’s Office in Grand Cayman from October 2004 to October 2008. Simon Tonge has wide experience in political security issues working as a regional security policy adviser for the FCO South Asia Group from May 2002 to May 2004. He has a background in sales and marketing. Simon Tonge is married without children.
