Biography

Simon Chesterman joined the Civil Nuclear Constabulary in January 2014 as the CNC’s deputy chief constable. He is also the National Police Chiefs’ Council lead expert on armed policing. He began his career with Thames Valley Police and went on to become deputy chief constable, specialist operations, West Mercia Police. In 2012 he was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal.

Deputy Chief Constable

The Deputy Chief Constable of the CNC is responsible to the Chief Constable for developing and maintaining the capacity and capability of the CNC to deliver its mission, and:

  • to develop operational policy and practice to national standards
  • to maintaining operational interoperability with Home Office police forces and other agencies
  • to recruit, retain and develop a capable workforce with the right values, leadership and skills
  • to deputise for the Chief Constable
