Simon Boyden

Biography

Simon Boyden was appointed as British High Commissioner to Eswatini in May 2021 and took up his role in July.

Previously Simon was Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania from January 2019 to February 2021. He was Political Counsellor at the British Embassy in Kabul from 2016 to 2018; Head of the Spending Review Team at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) from 2014 to 2016; and First Secretary (European Union) at the British Embassy in Berlin from 2010 to 2014.

Mr Boyden joined the FCO in 1997 and has also served in Vienna, London, and Moscow in a number of policy and commercial roles. Find out more about Simon.

British High Commissioner to Eswatini

The High Commissioner is the UK government’s representative in a Commonwealth nation. They are responsible for the direction and work of the High Commission and its Deputy High Commissions and/or Consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
