Professor Sarah Hawkes is a Commonwealth Scholarship Commissioner. Sarah is Professor of Global Public Health at University College London, Director of the Centre for Gender and Global Health at UCL and co-Director of Global Health 50/50.

Commonwealth Scholarship Commissioners are responsible for:
- ensuring that the CSC fulfils the aims and objectives set by FCDO
- promoting the efficient and effective use of staff and other resources by the CSC
- ensuring that individuals are selected for Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships on merit and on the basis of clear criteria which reflect the objectives of FCDO and, where appropriate, other sponsoring departments
